Chairs aren’t comfortable for 7 hours a day. I don't know about you, but that is an incredibly long time to be sitting at a desk or in a hard chair. Sitting uncomfortably for that long does not support a strong, active learning environment. Research has shown the benefits of flexible seating and how student choice and comfort increases engagement and participation. My students deserve to pick a seat that works for their learning. These materials will help give my students the option of where to sit. The seating is what works best for them. I hate sitting in a hard chair all day and they do, too. So why would I make them do it? The flexible seating is to help my students learn in a spot that is comfortable. I will use these different seating methods instead of the traditional desk with chairs. I want a more active classroom where my students are not stuck in one spot all day long. They will be used all day long by all of my students. I want my students to be able to get up and move around the classroom. Having these different seating arrangements will open up my classroom and give the students the option to really make it their own space. That is why I am doing this project. I can't wait to see the outcome!
