I would like to upgrade my reading library with current, high-interest books such as the newer reading series and graphic novels that teach a specific reading or social skill. More books will give my students more variety and will eliminate the need to take turns reading a popular text and decrease the frustration level. The students can check these out from the classroom library. Research shows that students who get hooked on a reading series become lifelong readers! Also, more books will eliminate the need to take turns reading a popular text and availability to check out from the class library. The school library has books, but the popular titles are usually checked out.
