Demonstrating an art technique, or how to use art materials, is a daily activity in my art classroom. With twenty K-5 students crowding around my demonstration table, it is not easy for all students to have an equal view of the demonstration through the "crowd" of their classmates. Younger children also have trouble standing next to each other without accidental touching, which distracts everyone from the demonstration. With a document camera, every student can have an equal and uninterrupted view of the art technique being demonstrated. Document cameras zoom in on the art technique being demonstrated. With a classroom camera students can finally see up close brushstrokes on paper or how my fingers press clay into a vessel. They can do all this from their seats without bumping into each other and while giving each other social distance, which will be very important as we work through issues with COVID-19 for the remainder of the year.
