Many of my 7th graders have told me that they never liked math before my class. I try to make learning math fun. I tell a corny joke every day. We laugh when we think math problems use silly examples. I teach interactively with the students, starting my class with a corny joke and engaging the students in step-by-step instruction. This enthusiasm would be heightened if we had individual student whiteboards, markers and erasers. We have an old scratched set that the students can't write on easily and they don't erase completely. These materials will help my students focus and follow along with my lessons. They can more actively participate in their learning. They will be able to better keep track of printed handouts.
