Many studies have shown that by offering flexible seating, which allows students to control their learning environment, students will do their best. The goal for this third-grade classroom is that each student feels successful and experiences academic growth during the school year. Flexible seating options will allow students to take ownership of their learning. The goal of this reading class is to provide an academically engaging environment that allows students the freedom to drive their learning. One way that this goal can be achieved is through setting up a classroom library. The classroom library will offer a variety of text on various reading levels. It is essential that students are provided with a large selection of books to choose from so that they can always find something they will enjoy reading. This is one of the many ways in which the love of reading and learning is nurtured among today's youth so that they will become better leaders and thinkers in the future. By meeting the reading needs of her students, they can be provided them with text that are relevant and engaging, thus creating a lifelong love of literacy.
