Currently, our foods classroom has to be set up and taken down every day, much like a "camp kitchen." We have folding tables, hot plates, mini-ovens, but no sinks. It would be most helpful to have a sink for each of the 6 groups, but one large 3 compartment sink would be wonderful as well. Our students spend much of their precious class time setting up and taking down tubs of dish water, tables, appliances, utensils, and cooking supplies. This would be alleviated by having a more kitchen-like classroom setup, with sinks, counters, and cupboards. Then, they would have more class time to actually cook! Each group's supplies are stored in 50 gallon tubs. Cabinets with sinks would be a huge organizational tool, and motivation for students to keep their supplies clean and in order.
