Music should be accessible to all students of all ages. While some enjoy singing or dancing, others excel by applying what they know on an instrument. Ukuleles provide an opportunity for each student to excel in a new area of music. Using their new ukuleles, students will learn to tune their instruments, play notes and chords, and sing our favorite songs as they accompany themselves. By adding ukuleles to our music curriculum, my students will have more chances to succeed. Understanding chords and individual notes will be easier when we can apply our knowledge to our ukuleles. We will also use our new ukuleles with our current classroom instruments, adding new timbres to our class ensemble. My students are music makers and world changers, and learning the ukulele will allow them to further explore how music can change our world
