When students have the opportunity to visualize complex scientific phenomena and work collaboratively to share ideas, their learning is optimized. Now in the time of COVID-19, when classrooms are set up to be socially distanced and computer-based learning is a safer option for learners, a projector is a key tool for learning in many classrooms. Additionally, I have seen how a projector can foster welcoming, collaborative, and engaging classroom environments in a time when more space between learners is required. From virtual lab investigations, real-world biological simulations, and the presentation of student experimental data the use of a projector can bring the biology curriculum to life. The projector will also be used to foster student self-regulation by projecting learning goals, agendas, timers, and calendars for all to see. Lastly, the use of a classroom projector will afford the opportunity to strengthen their communications through the creation and presentation of their own work. By requesting a projector and associated adaptors, my hope is to use this technology to support student learning of the biology content, develop student technology and communication skills, and provide a sense of community in our currently socially distanced classrooms. Thank you for your time in reading this DonorsChoose Project.
