Having to teach without a document camera is very difficult for me and unfair to my students. I often try to hold up what I'm doing on a clipboard and walk around so that everyone can see, but it's simply not effective. The students in the front are engaged in what I am modeling, but often the others get distracted by the time I get to them. Not everyone can see, which means not everyone can learn. This camera is our solution! Having this document camera would completely transform the effectiveness of my teaching by leveling the playing field to ensure all students can see my lessons. I would use this camera for all my whole-group instruction lessons which require modeling. Modeling is one of my main teaching strategies because it has proven to be an effective teaching strategy for all types of learners. It would be used all throughout the day, for almost all my lessons. I would also use it for distance-learning. I can record or live-stream from my desk and the children will be able to view and follow along, even from home. Using a document camera during whole-group instruction would ensure that ALL my students would be able to see what I am teaching, making our classroom an equitable learning environment for all, which they deserve!
