Come Together Over Me- L.O.V.E! (Listening. Opening. Visualizing. Expressing!) is a whole school yoga-art project to grow our resilience. The impact of COVID-19 on students is and will be layered. This traumatic event will leave the school community needing to birth new, loving tools to help us adapt to our new normal. As a Speech-Language Therapist and certified yoga teacher, the resources from this project will be used to create a school-wide community healing project to be a visual representation that We. Are. Stronger. Together! Students will engage in a series of multi-sensory based yoga-art lessons that will culminate in the creation of a community quilt: students will learn to self regulate by noticing and managing emotions (Mood Stickers) practice sensory based mindfulness tools using (Kinetic Sensory Sand & Lakeshore Dough); create individual quilt squares in yogic-art lessons (Art Easels & supplies)--- the community quilt will be displayed in our school; the quilt will be a visual reminder of the support and love we shared with each other during this challenging time to help each other not just get through, but grow through this unprecedented time. Come Together Over Me- L.O.V.E! will include community yoga sessions that include breathing and movement to help students access their parasympathetic nervous systems (the body's relaxation response) and connect to their hearts. From these yoga sessions, students will engage in yoga/art workshops that will guide each student to create a square for our community quilt. The workshops will teach mindfulness, self-regulation and visualization tools that students will be able to use throughout their day to help them not just cope, but learn how to thrive and rise.
