To "make” is a synonym for: create, cause, assemble, manufacture, achieve, invent, produce, craft, build, construct, or generate. In a STEM Maker Station this is exactly what happens. It is an environment where one is only limited by one’s own imagination. A place combining aspects of STEM-Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math with creativity and wonder. A STEM Maker Station will be a perfect catalyst for developing problem solving skills and, most importantly, a love for learning! The station will be used to create individual inventions, as well as group inventions allowing students to also practice social skills (sharing, taking turns, working together). The STEM Maker Station will be filled with a variety of recycled or natural materials, such as toilet paper rolls, boxes, yarn, feathers, pine cones, craft sticks, tape, etc. Students will be asked to develop a plan, research, create in the STEM Maker Station using easy to access materials, and finally present their creation to their peers.
