My students enjoy doing art projects and due to lack of funds we rarely have the opportunity. If funded the students would have an opportunity to be immersed in the Hispanic culture and it would spark their interest in learning more about it. The students would be able to create Peruvian ponchos that are used in Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Guatemala, and Mexico. They would learn about the ponchos and do research about the origin and the purpose of the poncho. The students would have an opportunity to compare and contrast the ponchos made in Latin America in comparison to the ones they create in the classroom. The students would also have an opportunity to create a Carnaval mask similar to the ones from Latin America. These projects would engage and immerse my students into the Hispanic Culture. They would come to class more willing to work and have access to unique activities opening their horizons.
