I am a first year teacher and have used the curriculum to help guide my instruction. However, just like our white board table experience, I believe that giving students the opportunity to explore the same subject in a different way will keep them engaged and make learning even more fun. I have used scholastic news in the past and I along with my kids have loved them. They are able to practice their reading comprehension skills and strategies on their hard copies while learning about other topics such as science and social studies. The online resources also help in differentiation offering tools such as text to speech audio for ELL support, activities, and multiple reading levels for the students that need to be challenged. These sources will be very beneficial to my students. It will help build their background knowledge and gain a better understanding about the world around them; hence, comprehend a wider range of text and information. It will offer an even more engaging delivery that'll brighten up the room with excitement and promote learning.
