My original intent for our class iPad was as follows: One of the best ways to improve the language development of ELL students is discourse. The majority of my students are ELLs (English Language Learners). My students will use this requested Apple iPad to create a classroom and school wide news videos to orally share what they are learning, events, and other information. However, given our current situation, I will use the iPad for creating videos of myself for instruction, and creating engaging, remote lessons. An iPad is more efficient way of creating the necessary videos and lessons. When we return next school year this iPad with most definitely instill in my students a sense of empowerment and self-confidence as students video themselves. Enabling students to see and hear themselves will help them develop a stronger presence and more confidence. This will transfer to their written work and other forms of communication. A major part of our Common Core standards is the ability to explain. Using this iPad for videoing students explaining news articles, problems, science experiments and phenomena, will help them toward success in their academic careers. Thank you for supporting us.
