I frequently have some type of paper that my students can use in my opening (mostly math) that keeps them engaged and following along with the lesson. It might be a number line, a page for part/part/total for addition/subtraction, or pages that match my lesson. I have always used page protectors so they can insert the page and then wipe off when finished. The problem with page protectors is that they get messy, wrinkled, and torn. The plastic page pockets are a sturdier alternative that would last so much longer! These hands-on learning tools will enhance my students learning by allowing them to have materials in their hands. A lot of the materials I requested are to replace homemade versions-like the privacy folders. These would last a lot longer than file folders stapled together! A leveled reader cart would help all readers to quickly find books that are on their level!
