The materials in this project are the major pieces of software and hardware necessary to create simple quality audio recordings. They will be used in conjunction with some preexisting hardware and equipment in the arts department to form some of the first "real" recording experiences our students have had. However, as lovely as this idea is alone, the grand dream behind our need of these materials is to give the music dept the ability to create virtual ensembles! (This idea stemmed from our need of activities during the school shutdowns due to Covid-19.) These materials will also help facilitate students in their ability to record and edit musical compositions in ways that they have never previously had, and give the teacher the ability to make multi-track recordings of students and more efficiently and thoroughly teach students about recording technology. They will be used both in extra curricular activities (outside the four period day) and for the standard bands and chorus classes. In addition to the creation of virtual ensembles mentioned above, specific projects which would be aided by these materials would include the creation of accompaniment tracks for ensembles, student music projects, students recording their own playing for self-critique, and furthering student proficiency in music technology.
