We are opening a new program for teaching biotechnology in our school. Biotechnology means technology based on biology. Biotechnology uses different ways of manipulating cellular or molecular-based techniques to improve the quality and quantity of living organisms. We would teach lab techniques like DNA isolation, electrophoresis, and plasmid preparation, to investigate gene structure, gene function, gene editing, and gene expression. We will also introduce how do genes make proteins by introducing basic steps of protein expression in the school lab. And finally, would also introduce state-of-the-art technology CRISPR-Cas. This will open new careers for our students in the biotech market.
