AP Calculus BC can open doors for students in terms of college acceptance and saving money through earning college credit. Practice both inside and outside of the classroom involves calculator use to develop conceptual understanding of topics and to practice procedural fluency given that the AP Calculus BC Exam is timed. Calculator literacy is crucial to success in this course, in college, and beyond. Supporting this project empowers students to have access to and practice with the same type of calculator throughout the year and decreases the financial burden on students and families.
This donation will support next year's AP Calculus BC cohort and future AP Calculus BC cohorts by providing them with continuous access to calculators that they will need to practice the skills necessary for this course, college, and career. As aforementioned, our school is currently the only public or public charter school in our city to offer AP Calculus BC and success in this course makes our students more competitive in college match. For example, previous AP Calculus BC students have earned acceptances to Dartmouth College, Tufts University, and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Support our students in their endeavor to maximize their mathematical learning!
