Students are expected to sit and work so much throughout their school day. For many, this can be a very difficult job. When students are given power through choice, they are more involved and engaged in their learning and education. Having portable standing desks in my classroom will give students the opportunity to stand and work or sit and work as they choose. This will empower the students and will help them be more engaged and active in their education. Students can benefit from standing in so many ways. Health experts have identified many benefits of standing desks. Some of these include a boost in productivity, improved mood and energy levels, and burning calories just to name a few. Students need to know that it is okay to work while sitting or standing. They need to do what is going to work best for them. Standing desks will give students the opportunity to make these decisions quickly with minimal distraction to the other students. Students need to work in ways they know they will learn best.
