It is hard for my students to stay in their chairs because, although they are perfect for their size, they are pretty uncomfortable. I have tried sitting on them for a few minutes, and it is very hard to concentrate when your body feels like it has to move or stand from that chair. There is one special chair in the room, or the "wiggly seat" as they call it, that they all want to use. They often argue and get mad at each other for not being able to sit on it for enough time.
"Why can't I have the wiggly seat?" is often what you hear throughout the day or middle of a lesson. Students love this chair, as it allows them to move and learn and is very comfortable. With this wiggle pad, students can have this same sensory effect while still staying at their seats. The movement caused by this wiggle seat pad will allow them to engage during the lesson without focusing on discomfort but the person speaking/teaching. This extra fidget will help my energetic students focus. Having 15 of these wiggle seat pads in the room, instead of just one, will allow the students to alternate and also allow for more students to benefit from the calming sensation.
