Giving my students the ability to hear computer based vocabulary and comprehension reading lessons without disturbing each other, will increase their reading levels. These activities will be more productive and enjoyable. Our classroom is designed like a learning museum. Calming yet full of objects to spark their inquisitive nature with materials available to read about their finds. Words of encouragement from me and their classmates are visible all over the room. We use reading buddies (stuffed animals) to provide a quiet reading partner and any needed comfort. There is ambient lighting throughout the room to further the calming environment conducive to reading.
