Students love to be comfortable when they are learning. They gather around in the front of the room for our mini-lessons, read aloud, or just as a space to talk and learn. We also watch powerful videos together about diversity in books and current titles that reflect important issues in our society. Students take the skills and knowledge from these lessons to apply it into their own books and even their lives. Students are currently just sitting on the cold, hard tile and I want to make this space inviting and engaging for them. I asked them what they would want for our area and they all agreed a rug would make it complete.
