My students will learn why they respond emotionally and areas that are in their control to adapt to situations which can cause negative feelings. This will be done in individual counseling sessions as well as in cooperative learning groups. I will use these materials to educate students about the various emotions they experience, informing them that all emotions are okay to have, but the expression of emotions must be safe and mindful. With this education, I will provide effective coping skills which can lead to positive experiences of handling emotions successfully. This will promote continued use of these skills and overall better well-being once students learn they have an ability to overcome challenging emotions.
