The best way for my students to learn about their physical world is to get hands on experience. Many of my students are students of color coming from a wide variety of backgrounds; they each have something to bring to the table and they all have insightful questions relating what we learn in class to their experiences. The best way to bridge the science concepts we learn and the real world that our students live in is to bring hands-on experience into the classroom. The topics I find that are most beneficial to have hands on materials that I am lacking in my classroom are electromagnetism and thermodynamics.
