Our school recently passed a bond issue, so next spring we will have a brand new kindergarten classroom. I love to encourage dramatic play and imagination, but all we have in our room now is an old, small, plastic kitchen set that is broken and faded. Eventually, I would love to add dress up clothes and more kitchen toys, but this would be a great start. Through dramatic play, my kids learn how to pretend, how to work out problems like taking turns and sharing, and I can learn more about my students by listening to how they play! This new kitchen would be a fabulous addition to our new classroom. In addition to playing house, we could use it for math skills and set up a grocery store or restaurant. We could use writing skills as we make a grocery list of things we need. The possibilities are endless!!
