This unit has two different texts in order to support all student learning within a classroom. The texts will offer multiple perspectives on the historical event: Hiroshima. One text is historical non-fiction and the other is a graphic novel written by someone whom survived the bombing. The goal of this unit is to help foster and instill the love for reading in all kinds of students. Not all students enjoy reading fiction because it can be challenging and leave so much open for inferences and interpretation. Some students enjoy reading stories from real people about real events. I want to give them an opportunity to read and discuss a different type of text within our classroom.
