My students need an option of standing desks and comfortable classroom seating to cultivate engagement and assist in increased focus and group work during class time. I have the pleasure of working with and teaching the most fantastic group of fourth graders! My students come to school every morning seeking knowledge and new learning experiences. Standing desks will make such a difference in my classroom. I have been working toward making my classroom more kinesthetically designed, in order to create genuine student engagement. Research has shown dramatic increases in concentration and students become more attentive when using comfortable seating options such as standing desks. Fourth-grade students need to move around and find comfortable places to work and collaborate. Offering a variety of workspaces increases focus and engagement. I plan to create a classroom environment that allows students to be flexible and comfortable throughout the school day. If I receive these flexible seating options, my classroom will be immediately transformed into a progressive and 21st-century learning environment that students will be proud of!
