This project will provide my students with an individual book for a culturally relevant, personally influential text for our upcoming unit! In a small group book club, students will explore their chosen text's conflict, characters, and real-world connections in a social issue research unit. These books create connections - my students see themselves in literature, and see how literature reflects the real world. My students have spent their school career dealing with impersonal books, without enough copies to go around. Help me give them a book they can connect to and read outside the classroom - a simple yet important part of learning to love literature.
