Students will be able to make colorful jewelry and vibrant posters showcasing the Haliwa-Saponi tribe. Beaded jewelry is a big part of their culture. Students will string necklaces for visitors to take home. All students will participate so all ethnic groups will learn about the Native Americans who attend our school. Students will also create displays to share information about tribal dances and ceremonies. Students will feel empowered and gain a sense of pride in their heritage by participating in this expo. These supplies will promote learning throughout the community. The experience will increase cultural awareness for students and their families.
