The materials I am requesting will help my first graders with decoding practice. These books are colorful and engaging. The topics are widely varied so readers can select based on their own interests. The texts require students to use their letter knowledge while reading. They cannot rely on the pictures to guess the unknown words. First graders devour books and need exposure to a wide variety of different texts. Research continues to show us that early readers must strengthen their decoding skills in order to become proficient readers. These materials will support my efforts to keep reading enjoyable during classroom practice and evening home reading.
