A love of reading is instilled in a student early on in life. Mentor texts are an important part of a child's reading education and the basis for discovering a love of the written word. My students a variety of book choices, so they can dive into a good story. Picture books and nonfiction and fiction chapter books must be available to share with my students, so they can learn what it is to enjoy a good read. Fourth grade is a crucial age in a young reader's education where a love of learning is born and nurtured, and I get to be a part of that discovery.
