Many of the K-5th grade students on my caseload like to wiggle around and have a hard time sitting still during a 30 minute speech and language session. I have conducted much research on ways to use sensory modifications to help increase attention and focus. Wiggle cushions are a fun and motivating way to encourage students to sit in their chair and remain on task. I have witnessed wiggle cushions used in other classrooms, and they work wonders! They also increase good posture and core balance. I would love the opportunity to provide these cushions to my speech students during their weekly sessions. The other item I have included in this project are Mr. Sketch Smelly Markers. These markers have been a hit in my speech room. They are so loved, they ran out of ink. Mr. Sketch Smelly Markers are a great reinforcer for practicing articulation, language, fluency, or any target skill! They are motivating and smell amazing. I hope to be able to provide the students on my caseload with these wonderful additions to our speech room!
