The books I have chosen offer various perspectives on young people during World War 2. Perspectives include a Japanese girl in an internment camp, a teen boy who is in the Nazi army, an Irish teen, a disabled Londoner, a Jewish boy in Warsaw, an American girl in the U.S. and a Navajo youth code talker. The diverse perspectives of the books will give students a mirror into the past as they connect with characters with whom they have common traits. Students will be able to make cross-curricular connections that will enrich their experience in social studies and ELA as they read these texts while also studying World War 2.
