Learning is going to look a lot different once schools re-open. Students will be sitting a distance from each other and unable to share materials. This is particularly hard for special needs children with difficulties socializing and setting boundaries. The school I work in opened its doors to our students last September. We barely had enough desks, chairs, or furniture for each classroom. And our classroom only has one working computer for teacher use. My students have hardly any access to technology. I am hoping that each child having their own tablet and headphones will help to make learning fun and interactive, even from a distance! Students will be able to respond from their seat in a tactile manner, which is how many of my students learn best. They will learn to type their writing and submit it electronically. Students will learn how to navigate the web and use digital platforms, such as Google Classroom, to learn remotely.
