My students excel in an environment where they do not have the needed equipment to compete correctly. Being centered in Gary, IN, Steel City Academy is a new charter with a vision of redefining education and rehabilitating the communities of our students. Being a new start up, our computer to student ratio is horrible, and most days my students do not have access to computers, and in this modern times, technology is everything. They need to be able to practice using google systems, being familiar with what programs to use, all of the short cuts available in technology, this is what is missing from their actual education. Their practical knowledge is amazing, but we also need applied knowledge. The lack of laptops for personal 1 on 1 everyday use is hindering their education, and I greatly want to correct this.
