We need to enhance our the diversity of our library collection by including titles that have characters that look like our students and have illustrations to support their limited English proficiency. Our students are looking for books that include characters like them and allow them to choose books that support their diverse reading levels. Additionally, adding books students enjoy reading encourages students to become life-long readers. The manga and diverse titles chosen will help us meet the needs of our culturally diverse population and support our limited English proficient students. When students can access the reading and see themselves in the books, they are more likely to read the books.
