"The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go." ~Dr. Seuss As one of the fundamental pillars for life long learning, reading plays such a vital role in our young learners lives. These books that I have selected will support and enhance a literacy-rich classroom that I strive to create. Not only will they help my students with their reading skills, but will also teach them valuable lessons that touch on social emotional learning, self-regulation skills, the importance of being kind to others, and embracing our differences. Since I am a first year teacher, I do not have many books that my students will be able to use and learn from. I have selected these books (with students in mind) to pair with important life lessons as I prepare my students to be leaders both in school and in life. By donating to the book fund (and miscellaneous items for the classroom), you will be giving my students a variety of books to choose from. I strive to create a welcoming and joyful classroom library where my students will enjoy to read. Due to COVID, I will be reading these books to my students virtually and will read them again once we finally meet in person. One of the best ways to improves ones reading ability is to read more, and these books will continue to help my students grow into strong and independent readers. With your help, my students will come to find the passion for reading that every young mind comes across in their educational journey.
