In our newly designed STEM classroom, we want to give our students access to many different activities. Our vision is to set up learning stations that focus on career exploration and provide real-world scenarios where students will have to communicate, collaborate, problem solver, and create. The Oculus Go devices will be used for the "Careers" portion of the curriculum. There are several apps that can provide students with guidance picking careers, and "real-life" virtual experiences in these careers. "Creativity is the secret sauce to science, technology, engineering, and math." -Ainissa Rameriz, Science Evangelist. This quote is the driving force behind the request for laptops, 3D printers, as well as the LEGO, Lighting, and Stopmotion Explosion kits. One Lenovo laptop PC will be utilized with the two Monoprice 3D Printers in a separate station. Students will use CAD software (not supported on Chromebooks) on the Lenovo laptop PC to design, create, and print 3D objects in real-time. The Monoprice Mini can print smaller student-made projects, whereas the Monoprice Maker can print larger projects. The different colored PLA filaments will all be used so that students have a variety of colors to print their projects with. This station will help build math and engineering skills. The second Lenovo laptop PC will be utilized with the stop-motion products (Stopmotion Explosion and Klutz Lego Activity Kit) in another station. One Emart 60 LED Continuous Portable Photography Lighting Kits will be used with each stop-motion product, so students create high-quality projects. Stopmotion Explosion comes with a camera and has to be used on a Windows operating system (not student Chromebooks). Students can use their school-issued Chromebooks to create stop-motion films with the Klutz Lego Activity Kit. This station will help build photography, photo/video editing, and narrative/writing skills.
