My goal is to put engaging, just-right books into my students' hands, teach them the skills and strategies to become confident readers and encourage and cheer them on. Graphic novels open the door to the world of reading for students who have given up on it. They may walk into my room reluctantly, but they leave confidently. And they can finally see themselves as readers. Dyslexic students and struggling readers need more than skills and computer programs. They need explicit, systematic instruction, a teacher who believes in them, access to books they want to and can read, and time to do this every single day.

About my class
