The Music Library of Diversity project is the collection of diverse children's literature to help students see themselves and allow them their own experiences. It is very important for children to look into literature and be able to identify with the characters they see. Diverse books teach empathy, friendship, and compassion. A good book can help children understand what it's like for other's who don't share your race, religion, or values. Multicultural literature serves as a powerful tool in enabling students to gain a better understanding of both their own culture and the cultures of others. Multicultural literature fosters positive self-esteem, empathy and unity. Using powerful varieties of literature can prevent students from feeling isolated. It has the ability to nurture respect and acceptance among all students. This wonderful objective can promote unity among different cultures.
