Through reading, people are able to learn about the world outside of their geographic boundaries. Emmett Till is a book that lets students explore social justice issues that they do not face on a daily basis and learn about the world beyond where they are living. Purchasing books is a resource that can be reused for years and impact more than just the 75 students I currently teach. It is important for students to understand the world they live in and their role in society. Through reflection and written analysis, the students will learn about social injustice in the United States.
