This Macbook will allow students to create broadcasts that they can be proud of. With this equipment, students will be able to edit their videos to make high-quality broadcasts that cover school, community, and national events. The work students do with interviewing, recording, and editing for these broadcasts will increase community involvement and help spread the news of the great things going on in our district! One of the main goals of this course is to learn the importance of presenting information ethically, factually, and without bias. I also want to enhance students’ skills in language arts related standards such as citing sources, research, and presentation skills. Students will start by researching various topics locally and nationally to determine which ones are newsworthy. They will then conduct any necessary interviews and create scripts for the different news segments they will be filming. Once they've recorded, students will edit the segments together in order to distribute a broadcast to the school and the community. I truly believe this course will create a positive bond between the school and the community and allow students to start networking for their futures. Our school's endowment fund was generous enough to fund the other equipment needed to help this come together. This Macbook is the last piece of the puzzle!
