The books I have selected are all in graphic novel format. This sub-genre really appeals to my students. I am seeing an increased interest among younger students and female students but my collection is sparse. Girls and boys are scanning my graphic novel shelves and leaving disappointed during most library classes. They are asking for more Phoebe and Her Unicorn books since I only have one. They are also interested in the Hilo series of which I only have two. The Babysitters Club graphic novel series is one that several have asked me about. I want these students to read and must have what interests them to impact literacy.
