I think my students will benefit greatly from having new tables rather than desks because tables are just so much simpler. In a desk, the students tend to stuff things inside and lose them. With tables, students are forced to keep track of all of their supplies, plus the teacher can more easily see students’ supplies and whether they are organized or not. Tables will also give my students much more wiggle room underneath as apposed to desks and their small space in which the chair fits. Students are already grouped in fours which is why tables would make a huge difference. When four desks are pushed together they tend to spread apart throughout the day, causing things to fall off, fall through the cracks, etc. Tables will help prevent some of these issues as well as strengthen the engagement factor in my classroom.
