We have started a reading initiative where students will read for a few minutes one day per week as a way to increase reading comprehension with the area of non-fiction books. This book is a very enjoyable auto-biography about the young girl, Katherine Johnson, who inspired the movie, "Hidden Figures". Reading comprehension is an area that students of today are deficient in because they do so little reading of non-fiction books. Unfortunately academic success is often judged by a student's performance on a standardized test, which largely depends upon their ability to read and comprehend non-fiction books and reading. Thanks!
