Our classroom focuses on voice and choice by all learners. I encourage my students to find a comfortable space within our class which will help them to best focus on the task at hand. We are in need of some new furniture pieces in our class to best promote student learning through flexible seating and brain break activities. My students are more focused on learning when provided choices on where to sit and when they need to take a break from learning to reorganize their thoughts. As first graders grow over the school year, they need more comfortable places to enjoy reading. Sitting straight up in a desk is their least favorite option. Finding comfort in a reclined, relaxed space enables students to immerse themselves in their stories.
