In order to improve in their reading, students need lots of practice with lots of different books at their independent reading levels. Having leveled books in my library will give them the opportunity to spend more time reading without being frustrated. By reading books at their independent reading levels, students will advance in their reading strategies and skills.
Building a leveled school library is essential for students to learn to read and comprehend what they are reading.
During independent reading time, my students read books at their individual reading levels with success, and then show their comprehension using the Accelerated Reader program.
The nonfiction leveled books that I am requesting will allow my students to improve their reading skills and learn about real people and real life. My students have many questions about the world. Having this leveled library will put books in their hands that explore their interests and that are written at their own levels. By independently reading these books, my students will gain confidence, improve their vocabulary, and improve their reading ability.
This project will help my students become successful and lifelong readers!
