The books I am requesting will allow me to significantly increase the number of books in my library with characters of color and messages about inclusion. I will use them as weekly read alouds for all grades and provide extensions for each book to further ingrain the message of kindness and acceptance towards all people. Students always love checking out the books I have read to them so I know they will get a lot of use. I truly believe that exposing children to books with a range of different types of characters and with messages of acceptance will help them to become kind and becoming individuals.
