The materials I am requesting support a literature based classroom that will help me support the social emotional character strengths of my students. With each of these books we will have rich conversation and make real life connections. For example the Jelly Donut Difference is about a brother and sister who are learning to get along. It teaches about kindness, care and generosity. After reading the story and talking about the author's point we will enjoy real donuts and make 'kindness donuts' to share with others in our building. The materials I am requesting will allow students to engage in stories about respect, responsibility, honesty, kindness, self control, perseverance, empathy, cooperation, self confidence, compassion, gratitude, and manners. Not only are students learning how to read, comprehend and write but putting these books in their hands will help make them well rounded individuals. Please help me support my students in the classroom as well as outside the classroom.
