Friends of Rachel is a group committed to spreading kindness and positivity in our community. It was started after students had the chance to listen to Craig Scott (Columbine survivor) spoke to our students about his sister Rachel. Rachel was the first person killed during the shootings. Craig shared her legacy and how she tried to be kind to everyone, include everyone, and spread positivity. His message resonated with our students who have a high rate of trauma and for whom have experienced significant losses. Our first project is a closet and pantry which will provide basic needs for our students. Students will be able to access clothing, hygiene items, school supplies, and food for free in a judgment free zone. This is student driven and hopes to remove the barriers to learning that many of our students faced These will be open for grades Pre K - 12.
